Holiday FEAST Program
The Holiday Feast Program helps local families celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas with the warmth, joy, and dignity of sharing a special meal together. In 2025, the program provided holiday meals to more than 700 households. Made possible by the incredible generosity of local donors, the program ensures our neighbors can create meaningful holiday memories without the added worry of affording a traditional meal.
Senior Food Box Program
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) Senior Food Box Program is administered by Feeding South Dakota. Pierre Area Referral Service serves as an official application and distribution site for the Pierre area.
Adults age 60 and older who meet the program’s income guidelines may receive a monthly food box containing approximately 30 pounds of nutritious food. For eligible seniors who live within Pierre city limits and do not have transportation, volunteer delivery may be available through PARS.

Grow Another Row (Seasonal)
Each year, we encourage local gardeners to “Grow Another Row” in their garden for the Pierre/Ft. Pierre Food Pantry. Produce is extremely expensive and if everyone would grow a little extra, we would be able to offer the bounty of our community’s gardens to those in need. It’s a simple thing, but it means so much to individuals who are struggling to meet the nutritional needs of their family.
Back to School Supplies
Through partnerships with local churches, The Salvation Army, and our wonderfully generous community, PARS provides new backpacks filled with brand-new school supplies to students in kindergarten through eighth grade throughout Hughes and Stanley Counties. Each year, approximately 400 local children receive the supplies they need to begin the school year feeling prepared, confident, and excited to learn.
