Holiday FEAST Program

The program provides a holiday feast to local families who may not be able to afford one otherwise. In 2023 a total of 730 households received a holiday meal for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The meals are purchased annually from local donations raised specifically for this purpose.

Senior Food Box Program

The CSFP Senior Food Box Program is administered by Feeding South Dakota. Pierre Area Referral Service is an official sign-up/distribution site for Pierre. Seniors 60 years and older, who meet income guidelines, are eligible to receive approximately 30 lbs. of food. Delivery Services (inside City Limits of Pierre may be available) for the Senior Box is available through PARS for those seniors that have no means of transportation. Food boxes are delivered to them by volunteers each month.

Grow Another Row (Seasonal)

Each year, we encourage local gardeners to “Grow Another Row” in their garden for the Pierre/Ft. Pierre Food Pantry. Produce is extremely expensive and if everyone would grow a little extra, we would be able to offer the bounty of our community’s gardens to those in need. It’s a simple thing, but it means so much to individuals who are struggling to meet the nutritional needs of their family.

Back to School Supplies

Partnering up with local churches, Edward D Jones- Marc Ulmen Office, Salvation Army and our wonderful community PARS has been able to provide new back packs full of brand new supplies to any child Kindergarten through 8th grade in Hughes and Stanley County Schools. Yearly, approximately 400 school children receive brand new school supplies through PARS to kick off the school year in the right fashion. We were also able to help High School Students with notebooks, pens and pencils and folders.
